A complete cookbook and guide to running a household, being a compendium of recipes, cooking techniques, nutrition information, serving procedures and other useful information was intended to support young women raising their families. The context for the cookbook was the Settlement House of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which served the needs of recent immigrants including many Jewish families arriving from Europe. Written by Elizabeth Black Kander, an American progressive reformer, philanthropist and author, founder of a settlement house in Milwaukee, and Gisella Schoenfeld, an American author who was the wife of composer Henry Schoenfeld. With original advertisements printed to the front and rear of the book. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent.
