From Wafer Fabrication to Advanced Packaging for High-Performance Computing Systems
What happens between semiconductor design and the finished AI chip?
Behind every AI accelerator is a highly coordinated manufacturing system involving materials, nanometer-scale patterns, contamination control, process variation, defects, yield, packaging, testing, and production efficiency.
Semiconductor Manufacturing for the AI Era Handbook takes you inside this system and explains how modern semiconductor manufacturing works as one connected engineering process, where every decision can affect performance, yield, reliability, cost, and capacity.
What You'll Discover Inside- Semiconductor Materials & Wafer Engineering
Silicon crystal growth, wafer preparation, defects, resistivity, surface quality, contamination, engineered substrates, and wafer qualification.
- Cleanrooms & Fab Infrastructure
Contamination control, ultrapure water, process gases, vacuum systems, environmental control, vibration, and facility reliability.
- Thin-Film Engineering
Oxidation, CVD, PVD, ALD, epitaxy, interfaces, film stress, conformality, uniformity, and process control.
- Photolithography & Advanced Patterning
Photoresist, optical imaging, critical dimensions, overlay, EUV, multiple patterning, computational lithography, and process-window control.
- Plasma Etching & Pattern Transfer
Anisotropic etching, selectivity, aspect-ratio effects, loading, profile control, endpoint detection, plasma damage, and 3D structures.
- Metrology, Process Control & Yield
Learn how manufacturers measure variation, detect defects and excursions, investigate failures, and improve manufacturing yield.
- Memory, Chiplets, HBM & Advanced Packaging
Explore silicon interposers, redistribution layers, TSVs, wafer thinning, hybrid bonding, microbumps, heterogeneous integration, chiplets, and high-bandwidth memory.
- AI-Enabled Smart Fabs
Discover how AI and machine learning support process monitoring, excursion detection, predictive maintenance, factory scheduling, and manufacturing optimization.
- Manufacturing Economics & Capacity
Understand yield, throughput, cycle time, bottlenecks, capital investment, packaging capacity, and cost per good die.
Built for Engineers and Technology ProfessionalsIdeal for engineering students, semiconductor professionals, manufacturing engineers, technical managers, researchers, and technology professionals who want to understand the bigger picture.
Rather than presenting disconnected process recipes, this handbook focuses on physical mechanisms, process interactions, engineering trade-offs, variability, measurement, yield, reliability, and manufacturability.
You'll find worked examples, quantitative reasoning, figures, tables, practice problems, key equations, and engineering case studies to strengthen practical understanding.
Why This Handbook MattersAI hardware is moving semiconductor manufacturing beyond transistor scaling. Greater performance now demands higher memory bandwidth, advanced interconnects, thermal management, sophisticated packaging, higher yield, and intelligent factories.
From crystal growth and wafer fabrication to lithography, etching, interconnects, HBM, chiplets, advanced packaging, and AI-assisted process control, this handbook gives you a clear framework for understanding the complete manufacturing chain.
Follow the wafer. Understand the process. Think like a semiconductor manufacturing engineer.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
