Paperback. Selfpoesis in Poem and Story is a brief book utilizing poems and story to elucidate the process of consciousness in creative endeavors. This is a unique process which relates to the individual creating the writings, or other creative work. Selfpoesis in Poem and Story: Consciousness as Process presents an exploration of how consciousness creates itself through the act of authentic loving, tracing the complete developmental arc from individual incompleteness through relational co-creation to cosmic participation. Ellis weaves together contemplative poetry, philosophical essays, and archetypal wonder tales to demonstrate that selfpoesis-the process by which awareness develops through creative engagement with experience-finds its fullest expression in intimate relationship rather than solitary introspection. The collection moves from the foundational "wanting of love" that drives self-creation, through the dynamics of "sacred intimacy" where partners become collaborators in each other's becoming, to the recognition of "shared solitude" where individual authenticity and relational communion unite in conscious partnership. Through haiku that capture moments of spiritual recognition, essays that articulate the theoretical framework of selfpoetic development, and mythic stories like "The Scarlet Monkey" and "Dark Blossom" that embody these concepts in narrative form, Ellis reveals how writing itself becomes a method for consciousness to investigate and create itself. The work culminates in the understanding that authentic love serves not merely personal fulfillment but evolutionary spiritual purposes, with conscious partnership becoming a sacred practice that transforms both individual awareness and collective consciousness, ultimately demonstrating that the deepest spiritual realization occurs not through transcendence of human nature but through its complete and conscious embrace.
