1280pp. No date. Circa 1860. Small Folio sized. The shorter title to the Half-title page: 'The Holy Bible, with notes and observations by The Rev. John Brown'. Bound in contemporaneous full black leather - gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. Numerous engravings (a number after the marvellous John Martin) in b/w and some maps. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. A former owner's blue ink name inscription to the upper corner of the rear endpaper. Some shelf wear and some rubbing - typically to the board corners, but other rub marks/scratches to the rear board. Damp staining with a light tide mark to at least one plate, but nevertheless very clean pages/textblock. A chip to the leather at the tail of the spine measuring 2cm x 1.2cm A very good, clean, tight copy of this family Bible. Seller Inventory # 240244
