Print on Demand. This book delves into the tumultuous history of the Jewish people, covering a vast period from the time of Moses to the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. Through the authorââ â¢s own eyewitness account of the Jewish War, the reader gains a unique perspective on the events that led to the fall of Judea. The author, a former Jewish general who later became a Roman citizen, offers insightful reflections on the complexities of Jewish culture, politics, and religion in the first century CE. The book provides detailed descriptions of the three major Jewish sects ââ â the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes ââ â and illuminates the philosophical and theological differences that divided them. It examines the life of Herod the Great, the challenges faced by Roman procurators in Judea, and the devastating consequences of the Jewish War. This book is a compelling resource for understanding the history, beliefs, and struggles of the Jewish people during this pivotal period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

By the end of a.d. 67, I quote from what I have written elsewhere, the whole of northern Palestine was In the hands of the Romans. Only Jerusalem, where a bloody civil war was raging, remained to be taken. But its capture was delayed by the events of a.d. 68, which drew the attention of the generals to the west. News came first of the death of Nero, which took place in June, and then, in rapid succession, of the accession of Galba, Otho and Vitellius. In July, a.d. 69, Vespasian's legions took the law into their own hands, and proclaimed him emperor. One of his first acts as emperor was to liberate Josephus, whose prophecy had now come true 2 [josephus] now accompanied the emperor to Alexandria.
