Two volumes ,both translated from the Russian by VConstance Garnett. Volume 1 - a 1967 reprint of the 1949 edition, seems to be published by The Macmillan Company of New York. Confusingly, this volume is in a Chatto and Windus pictorial dust jacket and the Chatto and Windus name is printed on the spine ! This dust jacket is price clipped, with light shelf wear. Volume 2 is published by Chatto and Windus, with no reference to Macmillan, and is a 1968 reprint of their first in this edition of 1962. TYhis dust jacket is also price clipped, with moderate shelf wear. Volume 1 is blue in colour with gilt lettering to the spine. Volume 1 is russet in colour, with gilt lettering to the spine. Both volumes have a small inked name at the top of the front end papers. Otherwise, both volumes are clean and tidy throughout. To summarise - both volumes have similar style illustrated dust jackets, with the Chatto and Windus name and the name of the translator. Both volumes are similar in format with the Chatto and Windus name on the spine. Volume 1 gives the publisher as The Macmillan Company of New York as the publisher on the title page.
