In the quest to enhance the robustness and resilience of structures, especially when these are subjected to external stresses and strains, Seismic Response Analysis Methods for Site-Structure Systems serves as a vital reference for advanced students, researchers, and engineering professionals who seek to deepen their knowledge of soil dynamics theory and other earthquake engineering fundamentals underpinning building and infrastructure design and performance in both onshore and offshore environments.
The group of experts who authored the volume guide readers through an in-depth, highly technical overview of a variety of systematically presented computational mechanics techniques and sophisticated formulation tools (e.g., 1D finite element artificial boundary method, the stiffness matrix method, methods for absorbing boundary condition when solving the near-field wave propagation problems, methods for seismic wave input, the internal substructure method, integral analysis models in time domain based on the FEM, and more) to model and assess structural behavior under seismic loads. Case studies and other applied examples extend the book’s interest to the practical realm to create new, or to refine existing, measures to mitigate damage or prevent catastrophic losses.
- Presents analytical and numerical methods to study the transient response of structures under obliquely incident earthquake waves
- Provides novel modeling solutions to further cutting-edge, applied research undertakings in the field, offering valuable insights for engineering practices
- Includes a range of examples from both onshore and offshore site-structure systems, illustrating real-word validation and verification procedures of analyses detailed throughout the book

About the Author
Dr. Bao received his PhD from Tsinghua University, where he also completed his postdoctoral fellowship. Since September 2023, he has served as an Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering of Dalian University of Technology. His primary research focus is on seismic and explosion analysis of complex media-structure systems. He has been honored with the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, the First Prize for Technological Progress by the Chinese Ministry of Education, an Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award by the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and has been selected for the Postdoctoral Innovation Talents Support Program by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China and the National Postdoctoral Management Office, as well as the Shuimu Scholar Program by Tsinghua University. He has authored one academic monograph and published over seventy academic papers, and serves as an editorial board member for the International Journal of Protective Structures (SAGE).
Prof. Zhao Mi is both the Director of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Director of the Institute of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Protection Engineering, Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Transportation Engineering, Beijing University of Technology. Some of his projects have been supported by the Ministry of Education – Innovation Team Development Plan, the National Major Talents Project, the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund, the Beijing Science Fund for Distinguished Young, and the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation. He is mainly engaged in research on soil-structure dynamic interaction and earthquake resistance for major engineering. He has published more than 100 academic papers, was awarded the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress and one First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by the China Transportation Association.
Prof. Xiuli is currently the Vice President of the Beijing University of Technology (BJUT). After he obtained his PhD in May 1990 from the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration, Dr. Du worked in industry as a senior engineer until he joined BJUT in 2001, devoting decades to teaching and research in earthquake engineering. He has made outstanding contributions to structure-foundation-soil coupled earthquake resistance. His research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Innovation Research Group Project and Excellent Young Scientists Project. He was awarded the title of Beijing Strategic Scientist and Beijing Scholar. At the end of 2023, he was also elected as a member of the China Academy of Engineering in the Civil, Hydraulic and Architecture Engineering Academic Division – the top academic title in the country, which represents the highest academic level and reputation in the engineering community.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
