nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A file of old documents, including a 1922 desert homestead land claim, copies of World War II medals and a Purple Heart, and unclear memories, ignited Bob's compelling quest into his family's past. He yearned to understand his grandparents' motivation and tenacity in homesteading in the 1920s California desert. Still, a much broader story unfolded as global and regional history intervened, shaping their lives and decisions. Discover how a devastating World War II loss reshaped lives, how a tragic accident cast a long shadow, and how the genuine, resilient spirit of 'Grandma R' emerged from faded narratives. Told from Bob's perspective, Seeking Yesterday is a testament to the power of curiosity, the enduring bonds of family, and the profound impact of shared experiences. The overarching narratives are: ¿A Personal Detective Story: The author's account of the journey to uncover family secrets, historical facts, and the motivations behind her husband's ancestors' choices. ¿A Microcosm of American History: Using one family's experiences to illustrate broader historical events and social changes (homesteading, WWI, Great Depression, WWII, land development, community building, the evolving American Dream). ¿A Celebration of Resilience: Highlighting the strength, adaptability, and perseverance of ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges. ¿An Exploration of Memory and Legacy: How places, objects, and stories shape identity across generations, and how understanding the past enriches the present. ¿An Emotional Journey: Moving from initial curiosity to discovery, joy, profound loss, and ultimately, a deeper understanding and appreciation for family.…
