8vo. Unpaginated. 34 leaves. Missing 4 leaves at rear. 19th century marbled wraps. Historiated initials. Illustrated Haggadah according to the Sephardic tradition. Includes beautiful copper plate illustrations designed by Israel ben Daniel Zifroni. Includes images of the ancestors of the Israelites worshipping images of the heavenly bodies, Egyptians drowning Israelite children causing their parents to cease marital relations, demons raining elements down upon the Egyptians and Pharaoh bathing in the blood of Israelite children to cure his leprosy. There are also numerous illustrations of domestic life such an assembly line baking of matzah and a family sitting around the seder engaged in each specific part of the ritual. Figures are depicted in early modern clothing. Text in Hebrew & Ladino (instructions and selective translations). Includes Hebrew accent marks. Marbled paper binding with spine partially missing and rubbed. Front and back covers with corners worn and some chipping. Interior with some foxing and staining throughout. Some pages with some offsetting from the engravings, and 5 pages have been expertly repaired with japan tissue to protect some thinning of the leaves and closed tears. Chipping and creasing to the corners and edges of some pages. Top edge trimmed with partial loss of lettering on a few pages. Binding in overall fair, interior in good- condition. Yaari 468.
