Two of musical theatre's biggest stars answer questions asked by fans about how to succeed in showbusiness.
This is the book for anyone who's seen a show and thought: 'That could be me'. Louise Dearman (Wicked, Evita, Cats) and Mark Evans (The Book of Mormon, Ghost the Musical, Wicked) are two of the UK's most successful musical theatre performers, with a wealth of experience and massive followings of their own.
In Secrets of Stage Success they share their hard-earned knowledge and personal experience with an openness, honesty and passion that is truly infectious and inspirational.
What makes this book different from other advice books is that it tells readers exactly what they want to know. All of the questions answered in the book were submitted by fans via a specially commissioned website. Hundreds of questions were sent in from all around the world, and the pick of them are featured here, including:
'Can anyone be an actor?'
'How do you write a CV without pro experience?'
'How can I improve my vocal range?'
'How do I progress from the ensemble to a leading role?'
Also included in the book is a section on training institutions, to help readers find the route to success that's best suited to them. There are also lots of original illustrations throughout, making it both fun and informative.
Secrets of Stage Success is an essential book for anyone who's ever dreamed of appearing in a West End or Broadway show. It will also be bought by parents and teachers looking to help young people achieve those dreams.
'Performing on stage is a wonderful job to have - and we feel lucky every day we get to do it. This is a tough and competitive business, but passion, drive and a clued-up approach will help see you through. Over the years we've picked up lots of tips from other performers, and have developed our own strategies and solutions too. Now we want to pass on what we've learnt!' Louise Dearman and Mark Evans
