The Bobbs-Merrill Company, Indianapolis, IN. 1938 Copyright. Hardcover. Book is tight, square, unmarked but for an inked out spot on the half title page. Book Condition: Fair; library tape covers to all board edges and spine; old nylon filament tape repairs to internal hinges at endpapers; slight page toning. No DJ. Teal cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Pictorial endpapers. 298 pp 12mo. This book is a mystery story of two Southern girls in Little Old New York. Continuation of The Secret of the Chestnut Tree, but not really dependent on it for interest. This new story -- again a mystery of sorts -- is laid in 1855 -- outside New York City, where Angle is getting ready to entertain her southern school friends, and Dick is continuously in and out of hot water. Adventure -- mystery -- and some local color and period stuff. Not a first rater, but a book that meets the demand for mystery for younger girls. A clean presentable reading copy.
