Synopsis:

Seashells of the World is an introduction to the world of marine seashells, emphasizing the most attractive and best-known species. This guide will help you to:

-Identify
-Classify
-Understand the beautiful shells you see and collect

No other animals are so widely collected, traded, or bought and sold because of their beauty and rarity.

About the Authors: R. Tucker Abbott was one of the twentieth century's most prominent specialists in seashells and mollusks. He wrote more than thirty books - including American Seashells, Seashells of the World, The Shell, and The Kingdom of the Seashell - several of which are still used for reference today. He named five species of seashells and mollusks, and fifteen more species have been named in his honor.

Herbert S. Zim was a naturalist, author, editor, and educator best known as the founder and editor in chief of the classic, pocket-sized Golden Guides series of nature books.

Marita Sandstrom was a talented illustrator who persuaded her husband, George Sandstrom, to pursue his career in art. She then worked with George on the classic Golden Guides Seashells of the World and Gems and Semiprecious Stones, as well as on works about wildlife for museums and magazines.
