IN SEARCH OF THE LOST
In search of the lost Seven Cities of gold
Incan glory; Spanish plunder and English wonder
Whatever happened to the Seven Cities of Gold?
Like Camelot and the court of Kubla Khan
Buried beneath the pages of history past
Now, only visible to the discerning eye?
Whatever happened to the Seven Cities of gold?
The court of Kubla Khan
and Camelot?
And the English wonder!
To some lost glory did the ancients travail?
To some lost golden horde
To somewhere and something lost in time
A hearth, a home, a family, a sojourn unknown
Whispers to some forlorn passerby
Here, we once stood and made our lives
So, the search of the lost continues
A lost soul to be found
If not the cities of gold
UNCERTAINTY
In times of old
When ancient mists rose above
Primordial seas
And uncertainty ruled
Life bellowed for nature's schoolmaster
A destiny, a future
A plan of salvation
Upon sunshine's rays of light
Came the ever greater
Rays of faith
Faith in someone, something,
Someplace greater than man and his sphere
SHE-WOLF
The Italian moon shines brightly
Above, in the Roman Sky
And the moonbeams bounce gently
Across waters and forests uninhabited
By human kind
And in the distance like an faint past echo
The she-wolf cries and can be heard
The howl of the ancient wolf pack
The call of the wild and the she-wolf 's howl
Romulus and Remus nurtured by she-wolf
While on the Seven Hills of Rome
And from whence the namesake of Beowulf
And the ancestry of the fierce Roman Legions
So the call of the wild; howl of the wolf-pack
And cry of the she-wolf pierces
The faint echo of the past
And summons the pack to order
No human to interfere
For the wolf can kill and nurture
And bring peace to a troubled pack
MEN OF MARS
The Long night ride to battle
Go the children of Mars
Caesar in their blood
And the heart of Alexander
Soldiers of Sparta!
Into the Hells Gate and harm's way
The American Caesar's never
Crossed the Rubicon, and never,
Pressed their own will upon the People
In the Long night ride to battle
Hero's true, Generals great, Washington,
Lee and Grant, Patton, Eisenhower, Macarthur
Demonstrating self-constraint, content rather,
Too lead hero's everyone
And so, the Men of Mars
Who served the American Republic?
Respecting the People's Liberty
Have not dared to cross the river Rubicon
For honor more, these Men of Mars, serve
And for love of there honored dead, their soldiers
And they're burning bright Love of Liberty
More than their own power and glory
No false Cromwell's, but lovers of Lady Liberty
So, in our American Republic
These Men of Mars and heroes are more loved
By the People than Feared
And so these heroes take a
Long night ride into battle
For the Life's of many are counting on them
VANISHING CIVILIZATIONS
Long lost Troy's fallen walls
And Athens faded glory
Spartan soldiers once so feared
Now, not even a village remains
And the five cities of the Philistines
Crumbled beneath sand and dust
Aztec pride conquered by Spanish greed
Ancient pyramids silent in the wind
Civilizations accomplishments puzzled
By forgotten societies, ruined buildings
And ancient tongues silenced by disuse
The great and the small silenced in shame
By times long forward March
Unrequited contempt for humanities
Attempts at immortality
Time respects neither the Prince of Egypt
Or China's emperors nor the bravery
Of Sparta-all vanish into history
And only the ancients' long-forgotten
Deeds to applaud by historians,
Librarians and dead poets
Can one dead king resurrect their glory?
And recall into service a vanished Kingdom?
No, the power of life and death belongs
To the Gods and not to mortal beings
Did the great cities and buildings
First crumble into ruin, or did,
The people lose their way first?
THE ECLIPSE
(Or Gentle Rebuke to Floyd)
Although, the moon does eclipse the sun
And darkness overcomes light; pain precedes pleasure
And suffering purges like fire impurities
From the human soul
In our darkest hour faith may overcome despair
And hope bears the burden of hopelessness
Where there was death; faith brings life and light
Where there was wrong and despair
Hope in tomorrow will bring a better day
Full of change, progress and righteous living
And where there was hate and bigotry
Charity's pure love will never give up
On what is best and brightest in the human soul
The moon to rule the night
The Sun to rule the day
Faith in eternal law to bring justice and comfort
Hope that tomorrow will be better than today
And charity, pure love's delight
To rule both Sun and Moon, day and night
For the dark side of the Moon is only light
And light are pure love and forgiveness and sanity
TEMPLARS AND THE GIFT
OF JERUSALEM
(Or the Friday 13th Lament
and the Devil's Dance)
In antiquity, rose a great gild
An order of knights pledged to poverty
But became rich and wealthy
Rivals to Kings, Dukes and Earldoms
These Templar's or poor knights of Christ
Skilled in battle, temperance and order
To protect Christians on their quests
To the Holy City and Temple grounds
A Christian Kingdom founded in Jerusalem
Protected by the Knights of the Temple
Whom secrets of sacred geometry did keep
Mathematics, chemistry and astronomy
The templar's greatest treasure?
Brought back to Europe
As a gift of the ancients
To lay the foundation of Western science
And protect western thought
O' Jerusalem your gifts were plentiful
A religion and knowledge
Too form western thought
Only two rejected on Friday the 13th
When darkness engulfed Christendom
To arrest and burn at the stake
Those whom did dare think
And as they burned watched the devil's dance
THE DARKEST CLIME
In the darkest clime
Where man as beasts unfold
Violence, turmoil, cleaver deceit
Cast's ugly dominion and darkest hue
Where man and beast reside
Shines an ever greater force
Reason and humanity
Twins of Light
Reflecting a more regal race
A race struggling to be fit
To inherit the mortal sphere
called earth
And given to human choice
The beast is subdued by humanity
Kindness and reason
And yet still, the beast within
Wages war for freedom to ravage
And disregard the niceties of civil society
Dr. Jekel's Mr. Hyde,
Dr. Banner's Incredible Hulk
And Lon Cheney's wolf;
Nicholson's raging dog!
all within are animals
Is the wolf the beast?
Or the beast the man?
SWEET SERENITY
Sweet serenity motionlessly stares
As time moves forward
Measured, proportional, endless
Eternal timeless, limitedness, motionless
Sweet serenity beckons and stares
As the time moves forward
And the memories of youth
Captivating encompass my mind
Full of thoughts, in this life time
And yet, another life time
A home, sweet mother and father
Brothers and sisters, Aunts and Uncles
And our family dog, Timber, a Collie
And dear grandparents
As time moves forward
The home vanishes, Aunts and Uncles
My grand parents, mother and father
All vanish beneath the stars and heavens
The physical home also vanished
However, the home in the heart lives on
As time moves forward
Sweet serenity motionlessly stares
Into the future, past and present
And the homes hearth is found
Burning in my heart
THE ANCIENT RACE
The ancient Celtic race, forlorn, and strong
From the Highlands mighty Mountain fortress
Gather the mighty Clans, at Scone,
Kilted families seeking national unity,
Pledge loyalty, fealty, and allegiance,
too their High Steward and High King
David upon the Stone of Destiny
King David to serve the Clans and Deity
In later years, Arbroath Declaration decreed:
The ancient memories of a people,
a nation, a race, traveling from Israel
north past the Tyreannean Sea
through the Pillars of Hercules
to the shores of Hebrides
In ancient document did declare
to the Vicar of Christ,
unalienable, unalterable and God-given
rights procured from Deity for the Clans
No Sovereign to disrupt for Hebridean Kings
were High Stewards set upon the Stone of Destiny
to protect, to serve and obey the voice of Deity
and will of the Clans
O, Sovereign, take heed, thy sacred charge
as High Steward to account to the clans
and do not to dare cheat them,
Like Avalon, and Arthur, such yearnings are but fleeting
and Camelot, but a bittersweet memory,
before base greed takes center stage,
Yet, despite, such bitter ancestral memories,
A silent yearning voice: Cries Free!
have hope, keep faith and loves flame burning
For in a brighter and better day
Scotland, in God's grace, shall be saved
her people redeemed in Holy Temples
A timeless and ancient race-survived
THE CIRCLE
Loves circle can draw a person within
And help a person breath out
A sigh of relief
For having been drawn within
The circle of love
Is the circle of eternity
For both love and the circle
Are eternal
For what is eternity without love
And Love without eternity
Both must be neatly placed
To complete the circle
God's circle of love
For eternity
MORE GENTLE TIMES
In a more gentle time
A long walk was a short walk
Through paradise
And the Sunday meal was even sweeter
Served with delights from the family garden
In more gentle times
Times past
When States rights were revered
And the family circle
And Sunday supper
Meant happy times
More gentle times
THE GRAIL
Whom does the grail serve?
Does the grail serve only the noblest?
Or does the common man also seek
The service of the grail?
And whom does the fisher-king serve?
Only the purist knight table round?
Or the serf whom maintains his crown?
Whom does the grail serve?
The fisher-king; humble and pure
Washes the feet
Of a holy knight
Pledged in fealty to serve the fisher-king
So, whom does the grail serve?
Who serves and who is of service
To the Holy Grail?
THE FAR AWAY KINGDOM
In a long ago time
And a far off land
A great prince arose
To defend his Parents Kingdom
To serve the Kingdom's subjects
And provide freedom and choice
In opposition, stood the Anti-Prince
The Prince of Darkness and Slavery
He hated the good prince
And sought his overthrow
And sought to seduce the people
With false promises and slavery
In a Kingdom, High on a Mountain top
Banners flying and standards rose
Arthurian Standards and Templar honor
Justice, Peace, humility and purity
A Lion's voice roared-
Come to Zion! Come to Zion!
The Kingdom needs helping hands
And hearts, to build temples and Cities
And make the waste places flourish
And the Deserts bloom!
And the Pioneers did come
In wagons, handcarts and on foot
To Zion, onward, to Zion
And they're the Standard
Raised high; beckoned
Angel trumpets loud and clear
Cities to build;
Roadways and settlements
Holy temples and Heavenly Choirs
