Trade Paperback in Good Condition. Clean and unmarked yellow illustrated wrappers, crease to spine and lower front corner, touch of wear to other extremities; tight, solid, and square binding. There is a small light damp stain near the lower front corner on the first few pages and on the upper edges on scattered pages throughout; otherwise, pages are clean, no marks, no creases, lightly toned. The story of Theodore White's personal search for the connection between American power and American purpose. He retraces a route that takes him to a China torn apart by war and revolution; from the victory in Asia to a ravaged postwar Europe, where American power rescued its parent civilization; then home to America to the tranquil years of the Eisenhower years and the dramatic years of John F. Kennedy; and on to subsequent upheavals in American politics and its power systems. 561 pages, indexed. 8 x 5.25 inches. 1979, Warner Books, New York, New York, USA.
