A group of prominent naval historians examine the Royal Navy's land operations: eg from supporting the army during the Napoleonic Wars, to shore bombardments such as at Acre in 1799 and Sweaborg during the Crimean War, to fighting on the Western Front in WWI, to the ill-fated Norwegian Campaign in 1940, to the firing of Tomahawk cruise missiles at land targets in the former Yugoslavia in 1999.
