The indispensible guide to the very best that Scotland has to offer.
Scotland the Best! was first published in 1993. Since then its reputation has grown as the guide to all the very best Scotland has to offer. It has been widely praised in reviews, by awards from the Tourist industry and, above all, by delighted readers from all over the world.
This is the guide to help you experience all that is excellent about Scotland. Whether you live here or are visiting, why settle for the second-rate when you can be guided to so much that is superb? Peter Irvine’s personal guide provides thousands of recommendations covering a multitude of topics including the best places to stay (whatever your budget), the best beaches, the best ice-cream, the best hill walks, the best bakers, the best spooky places, the best seafood, the best places for kids, the best ceildhs, and so the list goes on.
This new edition will be the best ever. Peter Irvine has reassessed every recommendation to see whether it is still worthy of inclusion so ensuring that the book continues to live up to its name and newly discovered gems have been added to all the existing categories.
However well you know Scotland, Peter Irvine will guide you to something excitingly new. The debate about the current state of tourism in Scotland has become a major political topic. The need for Scotland to provide a quality service to visitors has never been stronger or more widely recognized. It is an ideal time to bring out a new edition of the only guide whose purpose is just to provide ‘the best’.

Store description
With 3 stores less than 1 hour outside the DC/Metropolitan area (1 in Gaithersburg, 1 in Frederick and 1 in Hagerstown, MD), we have the largest selection of books in the tri-state area. Wonder Book and Video has been in business since 1980 and online since 1997. We have over 1 Million books for sale on our website and another 1 Million books for sale in our 3 locations. Items on Abe are not necessarily in stock at our retail locations. Please do not call the stores to place orders for Abe Books sales. We have a very active online inventory and as such, we can receive multiple orders for the same item. We fill those orders on a first come first serve basis, but will refund promptly any items that are out of stock. Since 1980 it has always been about the books. ALL kinds of books from 95 cent children's paperbacks to five figure rare and collectibles. A merging of the old and new is where we started, and it is where we are today. Our retail stores have always been places where a reader can rush in looking for a title needed for a term paper that is due the next day, or where bibliophiles can get lost "in the stacks" for as long as they wish. In 2002 USAToday recognized us as "1 of 10 Great Old Bookstores", and we have been featured in numerous other newspaper and TV stories including Washington Post and CSpan. Members ABAA, ILAB.…
