Good condition. Rubbing to the spine, but still readable. "Science News 10", published by Penguin Books is part of their early science series. Priced at one shilling and sixpence, indicating it was published in the UK before decimalisation (which occurred in 1971). This volume covers a range of scientific topics aimed at general readers. Based on the cover, the subjects include: ? Comets ? The Artificial Kidney ? Biochemistry To-day ? The Physics of Low Temperatures ? X-Ray Studies of the Kidney Circulation ? Ultra-Microscopic Surface Topography ? How Old is the Earth? ? Research Report ? Dating the Past These essay-style articles were written by scientists or science communicators to present cutting-edge developments of the time in an accessible way. Penguin's Science News series was one of the earliest attempts to popularize science through affordable paperbacks, often using simplified language and diagrams.
