"I want an archaeology that digs in the future: looking for evidence that there will be us." Martin Oppenländer has worked for years in a call center. Now he has made himself self-reliant to escape the dependencies and futility of his work. Suddenly, however, the world stands still, there are no orders, and the step into freedom proves to be a step into the offside. In the silence, a call takes him. A flirt from the past, a woman who put love hopes on him and now confronts him with her disappointment. He can't remember her - and yet her calls are becoming increasingly important to him. They conduct conversations: about now, about earlier, about the attempts to imagine a future. Black on white narrates concise and pointed, with fine sense of comedy, of the crises of our time, of standstill and of hope for change. And of how we draw strength for our lives from telling.
