Instructor reference manual produced by the U.S. Army Engineer School detailing the fundamentals of constructing fixed bridge structures for military engineering units. Part 1 of an eight-part series, it covers foundational troop construction concepts, measurements, definitions and classification criteria used for fixed bridging. Illustrated with technical diagrams and example charts, this manual reflects Cold War-era Army Reserve training doctrine for engineer units and was distributed to instructors during the 196162 ADT cycle at Fort Belvoir. Published under Army supervision, this text supported Reserve Component training for Combat Engineer and Bridge Company personnel.
