Paperback. The rock that killed the world brought death to billions, but it also brought an alien virus that turned some survivors into something else.Jebediah Wayne was a farm boy from the Pacific Northwest, living a quiet life until the sky fell. The meteor didn't just shatter the world; it unleashed a mutant virus that turned humanity into a dying breed. Those who survived were hunted by the Revenant-paramilitary soldiers belonging to the Sovereign Accord, a shadowy organization that had been waiting for the collapse of the planet to seize absolute power.Jeb's family is missing and now the Accord is hunting Jeb for a family secret he doesn't even fully understand yet. They thought he was just a farm kid left alone in the woods to become an easy capture. But Jeb has been infected by the virus and the super-human powers growing in him are making him more predator than prey day by day.And he isn't alone.Among the ruins of his homeland, deep in a mountain cave, Jeb discovers garments of protection and a creature of myth: a fire-breathing, human-eating dragon. To the rest of the world, the beast is a ferocious, murderous weapon. To Jeb it becomes his fiercely loyal companion and protector, adding to Jeb's own perseverance in his mission to find his family. This is hero's journey, a cli-fi thriller, a gritty, high-stakes survival odyssey that contains no vulgar language or sexual content, yet features intense action with fantasy violence and combat. After a meteor strike shatters the earth, 17-year-old Jebediah must lead a fire-eating dragon into the heart of a paramilitary conspiracy to save his family. “Well, big fella, you ready to finish this?” Jeb said to Ignis, still in awe of how massive the dragon had become.
What if the end of the world wasn’t the end of the story…but the beginning of 17-year-old Jebediah Wayne’s?
After a meteor shatters the world and plunges it into ash and silence, Jebediah survives the chaos in a bunker beneath his family’s land– and emerges to a future scarred by monsters, ruins, and war. While searching for his missing family, Jebediah discovers something hidden deep underground: a blackened suit of armor bound by a curse older than time.
It chooses him.
Now, with a growing power inside him and a dragon by his side, Jebediah is hunted by the Sovereign Accord– a ruthless global force that reveals itself from the ashes to claim what’s left of the world. But they don’t know what his destiny has in store for him… or what he’s becoming.
As the cursed armor claws at his soul and the world crumbles around him, Jebediah must decide if he is going to become the man his parents raised him to be…or an unstoppable weapon.
Scale & Shadow: Forged in Fire is an epic, illustrated, post-apocalyptic and low fantasy saga with a molten edge. It blends ancient secrets, mutated horrors, and the bond between a boy and his dragon into a gripping saga of vengeance, loyalty, and destiny. This is a hero’s journey for upper YA and adult fans of the genre, a cli-fi thriller, a gritty, high-stakes survival odyssey that contains no vulgar language or sexual content, yet features intense action with fantasy violence and combat.
