I Sat Beside an Elephant carries to the reader a touching look at the simple warmth always hiding in the thoughts of every child everywhere. Theres nothing more boring than sitting on a bench alone waiting for the school bus. Minutes all turn into hours and having a test to study for doesnt make the waiting any easier. For some children and one little boy in particular, that long tedious wait is anything but boring. Yes, there is always homework that is not quite finished and a big test waiting at school, but those last precious minutes before the bus arrives are just meant for an adventure. One never knows who or what will turn up before the school bell rings. Written in a light rhyming prose, any child age three to six is sure to enjoy the story within I Sat Beside an Elephant. The illustrations are hand drawn in colored pencil and add just the right touch of realism to the completely whimsical nature of the story.
