First published by The Modern Library in 1919 this is a 1921 BONI & LIVERIGHT MODERN LIBRARY printing. This is a very rare early Modern Library book in dust jacket. May possibly be the first printing since the only copies that seem to be in existence are from 1921 - even the Modern Library collectors page has never seen a copy from 1919. Bound in brown imitation leather (spine #2) with Brodzky end papers. The book is in NEAR FINE condition with extremely bright gilt on cover and spine. Leatherette binding is clean tight and solid. NO owners signature or any other writing anywhere in the book - contents extremely clean and bright. Even text blocks are extremely clean. Brodzky endpapers are clean and bright. Solid binding, brown topstain perfect. GORGEOUS! APPEARS UNREAD AND UNOPENED. The dust jacket is NEAR FINE with a chip on the top and bottom spine otherwise in extremely great shape for its age - super bright and clean! The list of titles on the flaps and rear panel includes one from 1921, but none from 1922, indicating a 1921 printing. Again, there seems to be no book or dust jacket in existence from 1919 so this may be the actual first printing. Now protected in an archival-quality dust jacket protector.
