The preface to this 30 page volume references samplers as the product of `youthful needlewomen'. LEARN more about : pattern darning, woolwork, 1727, cotton canvas, Bronte sisters, Tudur Aled of Llansannan, and coloured silks. All of the many illustrations are in b/w. Section at back on proper display techniques. Cond : Green paper wrapper with white lettering. Colour cover illustration is by Mary Lewis and shows (Welsh) work done in 1824. Clean, staples tight,minimal wear, no names nor marks. Excellent reference. QUote (p. 15) : " In some cases, the samplers were comprised completely of verses, with decoration being reduced to a narrow geometric border. One sampler in the collection, made in 1797, consists only of three verses ._._._. . ".
