About this Item
Folio (13 1/2 x 11"). [44]pp. Original string bound cloth. This splendid sample book contains no less than 172 silver bromide postcards produced in Spain in the 1920s, using the most complex workmanship and elaborate equipment of the time. Each card measures 5 1/2 x 3 1/2" is hand-colored, high-gloss varnished and embossed with relief decoration. 44 cards have a die cut in the middle of the picture which reveals, when opened, a folded blank note in the form of a telegram or check to be filled by the sender. The main motives are predominantly persons: pretty young ladies with yearning look, couples in love, happy families and adorable children, individually or in small groups. The photographs are mainly adorned with colorful flowers, in addition with hearts, shamrocks, lifebuoys, horseshoes, books or chocolates boxes with bows. Many cards with the printed inscription: (Mil) Felicidades, and a few cards with pure floral motifs. Unfortunately, the name of the company which produced this sample book couldn't be identified. The samples are pasted onto heavy cardstock (4 per page), with handwritten reference number in white on each page. Album and samples in very good condition. Seller Inventory # 43606
