A good, substantial hardback with original calf leather spine and later boards with printed patterned paper design. Spine with substantial wear to the leather. With raised bands and later gilded title label. Original marbled pastedowns have been replaced with more recent patterned paper, but with text block in original state retaining the marbled free endpapers. In addition a few pages of more modern facsimile have been bound into the book - poetry from a different publication. Endpapers with light marginal staining and some discoloration and age spotting. Text is bright and clean and all pages as called for. Text block is soundly bound. With red toned edges to text block. With attractive copperplate frontispiece engraving. Text is generally cleaner and brighter than would often be found. A desirable copy.
