Pub Year 2004, See images for condition. About the book >.>.> Sameness and Substance Renewed Book by David WigginsDavid Wiggins revises and substantially expands his earlier work *Sameness and Substance*, reconsidering conceptions of identity, substance and persistence through change in light of twentieth-century logic and logical theory. He argues for identity as absolute, necessary, determinate and all-or-nothing, defending this account against rival conceptions. The book develops two further positions: individuative essentialism, a form of essentialism, and conceptualist realism, a form of realism that Wiggins relates to a surviving insight of idealism. In its final chapter, he advances a human-being-based account of the identity and individuation of persons. He argues that a satisfactory account of personal memory must meet the normative requirements arising from its aim of providing direct knowledge of the rememberer?s own past. The book addresses subjects in metaphysics, philosophical logic and analytic philosophy. (LL).…
