Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating realm of biblical science, specifically focusing on the Samaritan Pentateuch and its significance in understanding the origins and history of the Pentateuch. The author challenges the prevailing scholarly view that places the Pentateuch's composition in or after the Exile period. Central to the book's argument is the historical context surrounding the Samaritan Pentateuch, particularly the events described in 2 Kings 17, where the Assyrian king sends an exiled Israelite priest to teach the newly settled colonists in Samaria about the God of the land. The author contends that this event provides crucial evidence for the authenticity and early dating of the Samaritan Pentateuch. Through meticulous analysis of linguistic features, historical events, and comparative philology, the author presents a compelling case for the Samaritan Pentateuch's close connection to the original Hebrew text and its independence from later revisions. This book sheds light on the intricate relationship between the Samaritan and Jewish traditions, offering valuable insights into the development and transmission of the Pentateuch across centuries. The author's exploration ultimately underscores the enduring legacy of the Samaritan Pentateuch as a testament to the antiquity and authenticity of the Five Books of Moses. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

This scholarly work surveys Hebrew–Samaritan texts and related languages to argue that the Pentateuch’s core history and laws point to an ancient, Mosaic origin. It examines how Assyrian and Samaritan scholars influenced textual form, and it weighs criticisms by Gesenius while highlighting evidence from linguistic and textual patterns. The book also explains a key pronoun form (hv d) and its implications for understanding Semitic–Indo‑Germanic languages, offering a bridge between philology and biblical history.
What you’ll experience
- Juxtaposed evidence from the Samaritan Pentateuch and Hebrew tradition.
- Discussion of how scribal revision and linguistic change shape the text.
- Engagement with major critical debates and a survey of scholarly opinions.
- Clear explanations of philological methods and their impact on interpretation.
Ideal for readers of biblical scholarship, students, and anyone seeking a careful, evidence‑driven view of the Pentateuch’s origins.
