A unique blend of natural and supernatural, this inspirational and highly educational novel provides up-to-date information about the environmental dangers facing young adults today and what they can do to respond as Earth- and Water-Protectors. This story is written for the middle grades. It makes a powerful read aloud for younger children and adults are inspired by it as well.

Sam and Maddie, 14-year-old neighbors in rural Washington state, are drawn unexpectedly into The Mother Tree's powerful vortex and find a portal where they meet SilverLight, a thousands-years-old master dragon, who begins to teach them Mother Earth's Secrets as no mere mortal could. The two teens, joined by Sam’s grandmother Nana and Maddie’s dog Sparks, are trained to become Galactic Guardian-Level Earth-Protectors. They meet endearing characters such as passionate Professor Schroom, fairies Bluebell and Whitestar, and Granny the orca, as SilverLight magically transports them back and forth between the everyday world of school and family and the various Realms of Possibilities that exist in other dimensions.

“A deep well of wisdom” Pam Montgomery, Nature Evolutionaires
"My husband who is an environmental consultant and I spoke about how little either of us ever learned about these topics in school when we were growing up, and how important a book like this would be. I think this educational aspect, combined with the book’s fantastical backdrop, is what makes this book special—particularly in regards to keeping the attention of a young audience. My five-year-old is fascinated by your story too. He keeps asking me to read more and also loves the illustrations which are something special.” Suzanne Coner

“Fast paced and detailed, SAM, MADDIE, AND THE MIRROR DRAGON explores the interconnectedness and beauty of nature, "Magic School Bus" style. Chock full of accessible climate change, ecology, and sustainability content, its adventures into the water cycle, "wood wide web," and other natural wonders will delight the environmentally conscious and curious alike.” IndieReaderStaff
