A poetic yet scientifically accurate description of the life cycle of a salmon. This book will inspire children in classrooms and at home to appreciate the world around us!
Fast-paced prose and brilliant illustrations follow the salmon from their form as eggs in a stream to the wide ocean, eventually making a hazardous journey home to their stream of origin. Carol Reed-Jones uses cumulative verse, a literary technique that is not only enjoyable but suggests how interconnected salmon are with their habitat. At the back is a section on salmon facts and what makes a good habitat for them, teaching the basics of ecology and why clean streams and waters are so important.
A perfect book for:parents and teachers needing homeschool supplies for kindergarten (or any grade!)anyone looking for forest and other habitat books for kidsanyone looking for children's books to help instill an appreciation of our planet!

This is the fifth book he has illustrated for Dawn Publications.

Carol Reed-Jones lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, son, dog, and cat. She enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking, and watching Douglas squirrels from her living room window. She strongly believes in living in ways that preserve the earth and all life. In addition to her writing, Carol teaches music, directs an early music vocal group, and is completing her Master's thesis in music history. Carol has written two books for Dawn Publications, the Ben Franklin Award-winning The Tree in the Ancient Forest and the beautiful new Salmon Stream, which follows the life cycle of salmon in cumulative verse.
