This 3.625 x 5.625 inch 550 page hardcover book is the 1814 edition of this title with that date on the title pages. The title page announces ? a New and Improved Edition ? Published by David Longworth at the Shakespeare-Gallery ? and further information on the following page ? N. Van Riper Printer 194 Greenwich. This two volume set appears complete but is in only poor condition ? with the leather-covered boards severely scuffed and worn ? with the boards for volume 1 still securely attached to the text block ? the front panel of volume 2 is disengaged . . . but present. The black title blocks with gilt lettering are both present on the spines. The interior pages show considerable foxing but beyond that the pages are in at least good condition and probably better with no damage or markings ? and with both volumes showing a Table of Contents ? and Volume 1 showing an index. The books feature some nice decorative graphics ? mostly of flowers ? and with several full-page illustrations of characters within the text ? such as Will Wizard, Walt?s Dance, Aunt Charity, etc. 550 pages.
