Item description from seller

Rhodesiana Reprint Library. Volume Eleven. Reprint of the 1927 Australian edition, with additional illustrations. 8vo; mustard boards, lettered in gilt on spine and upper cover; pictorial dustwrapper; pp. (xviii) + 207; plates. Dustwrapper very slightly rubbed and edgeworn; a little light spotting; earlier owner's name signed on front free endpaper. Very good condition. "Sally in Rhodesia, which originated as a series of letters written by a young bride in Rhodesia to her mother overseas, between 1907 and 1912, tells in a charming conversational style of the rigours of domestic life in Salisbury, the raising of her young family, the social life of the day, and of the pursuits of husband Toby. Her delightful humour ripples through the book and is at its best when she recounts how she is called to cope with the culinary capers of inexperienced domestics. The original book ran to many editions in the United Kingdom and Australia and became something of a Rhodesian institution and a classic on the family life of the settler.".…
