Sales is the only profession that resets you to zero every month.
Hit your number in March and on April 1 you are back at the starting line. That is the cost of the career. It is also why sales remains one of the few paths where someone without a degree, a network, or a head start can change their economic standing entirely.
But only if you treat it like a profession instead of a gig.
The Sales Career Roadmap is not a how-to-close manual. No scripts. No magic lines. It is a career framework: a map of the full climb from your first quota to leading leaders, written by an operator who is still in the work.
He started in telemarketing at 19 on a floor of 300 dialers. Walked away from sales at 23 over a conscience problem and spent three years as a youth and family counselor. Came back with a different standard for what the profession could be. Over the next three decades he scaled a startup sales org from roughly 40 sellers to more than 350 on the way to a billion-dollar IPO, and has been building go-to-market teams for private-equity-backed companies ever since.
PART 1: THE JOURNEY
Nine chapters, one for each stage of the climb.
- The Truth About Sales - why the scoreboard is not fair, and why the best sellers find that liberating
- Years 1-2 - building an operating system that runs on your bad days, not just your good ones
- Consistent Success - the difference between a great quarter and a repeatable process
- Earn the Next Rung - why promotions go to proof, not potential
- The IC Ladder - enterprise mindset, deal quality, and the reputation that follows you
- First-Time Leader - becoming the steward of other people's careers
- Leader of Leaders - from tactical execution to strategic stewardship
- The Long Game - what the profession gives back if you earn it
- The AI Inflection Point - why craft matters more now, not less
PART 2: THE FIELD GUIDE
Six operating frameworks with worksheets you are meant to write in.
- The CrowdCoaching Framework - a six-category rubric for scoring the front half of the sale, alone and as a weekly team ritual
- Buyer Alignment - reading the person across from you and changing what you lead with
- Elicit a Response - building a process where deals rarely go quiet, and what to do when one does anyway
- TC2M - training, coaching, managing, mentoring, and the three questions that tell you which one a situation calls for
- S-O-I-E - addressing a performance problem without making it about the person, and making the change hold
- The Leader of Leaders Toolkit - ten director competencies, a blind two-way assessment, and a year-long development plan
WHO THIS IS FOR
- New sellers who want a map instead of a script
- Reps who had a monster quarter and cannot repeat it
- High performers choosing between the IC ladder and the leadership ladder
- First-time managers who just took custody of other people's careers
- Directors developing the managers who report to them
Two ideas run underneath all of it. The work has to become easier to inspect, because memory, mood, and vibe are not a feedback system. And you score behaviors, not results, because the input is the only part anyone actually controls.
The number is not the lever. Everything you do before the number happens is the lever.
