Paperback. The story follows Kaede in a strange town where memory and reality constantly misalign, centered around a sakura tree that never blooms and seems to quietly rewrite existence itself. As Kaede investigates inconsistencies-such as conflicting memories, shifting records, and objects that subtly change when observed-he realizes the town is not merely forgetting things, but actively being edited, with even people's names and identities becoming unstable. His friend Ren dismisses his concerns as obsession, but Kaede discovers a growing anomaly in the sakura tree: a bud that should not exist, signaling a deeper system-level change in reality. As the town begins to "correct" itself in response to awareness, Kaede notices that those who acknowledge the truth risk losing their identity entirely, suggesting the sakura is tied to a mechanism that replaces or erases memory at a foundational level. Ultimately, Kaede becomes caught between a collapsing shared reality and an awakening force embedded in the tree, as the town quietly transforms into something that forgets people as easily as it forgets its own history.
