About the Author: Eugene Garver is professor of philosophy at Saint John's University in Minnesota. He is the author of Aristotle's Rhetoric: An Act of Character and Machiavelli and the History of Prudence, as well as coeditor of Pluralism in Theory and Practice: Richard McKeon and American Philosophy.
