Synopsis:

Since 1960 Tim has sailed from Polruan initially ‘Up River’. Then cruising, east to Dartmouth and taking part in the ‘Round the Island Race’, west to Falmouth, Helford and the the Scillies and of course Fowey Regatta Week. Longer cruises to the Western Isles, Iberian Peninsula and escaping to summer in New Zealand with detuned America’s Cup boats help to define ‘sailing is about nature, boats and people’. This is all seen from the perspective of an isolated village in 100 years of transition from trading schooners to the white van man and the consequences of the new leisure economy.
