ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
A box set of the first four volumes in Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels series: My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of the Lost Child.
A stunning four-book series set in mid twentieth-century Naples and featuring Lenù and Lila, two young women learning to navigate their lives in a complex environment. Their often-tempestuous friendship is accompanied by a chorus of voices that lend context to their story, creating a portrait of a poor neighborhood of resilient people governed by the reality of the survival of the fittest. All four novels feature compelling protagonists fleshed out by the power and immediacy of their emotions and persevering by their wits.
“I wanted to tell the story of two women,” the author has said, “and to do that, I had to incorporate the history that served as the backdrop of their lives, all the aspects that were related to them in one way or another. The sum illuminates a piece of the history of Italy.”
This stunning four-part narrative will endure as a masterpiece of twenty-first century literature.

About the Author
