From the Author
Hello reader! I am glad you are taking the time to read this message to you. I want you to know why I wrote Sacred Living, and Dancing Up the Moon. Both these books came from a growing need I discovered within myself and in people that I met of celebrating the beauty, joy, pain and awe of everyday life. Both books are a guide to honoring the sacred, which includes for me both the challenges of those difficult times, as well as times when we feel happy or exuberant. As you know, life goes by so quickly, and whether you are watching your children growing, or getting ready to celebrate your parents milestone birthdays with a special celebration, there are ways to bring more meaning to these events. The books are not meant to be perscriptions for bringing the sacred into daily life, but rather inspiration for you to honor what you already do, plus ideas and facts about the year with suggestions that can enrich your daily life. All of the rituals, ideas, and suggestions have been tried and invented by me or someone who I interviewed for the books. They started with a ritual honoring my niece, who had turned 13 in 1982. I wanted her to feel honored into adulthood, and in being a woman. Today we have initiated all of my nine nieces and nephews and two of my step sons into adulthood through loving ceremonies, celebrated with family members for the occasions. My dearest wish is that you enjoy life more, and share more meaning with your friends and family through my books. My hope is that through the process of each-one-teach-one, we can transform our society into a more loving and compassionate place. May these books offer you the inspiration you are looking for and the acknowledgement of the beauty you already have within your own life. You will join thousands of readers, and even some famous ones, like Jean Houston, Rachel Remen, Z. Budapest, Angeles Arrien, and Brian Swimme, all of whom have endorsed my books. Thank you for your precious and original self. May you cherish each moment, happy or sad, as your tender story, and enjoy it more through honoring our connection to all things. With many warm wishes to you and your loved ones,
Robin Heerens Lysne
