1980, 83pp, index. Wrps. VG+. From the preface: "Before 1796 Tennessee was a part of North Carolina. Early settlers in Sumner County came mostly from Watauga, North Carolina, and Virginia; a few came from Pennsylvania and South Carolina; many of them from the battlefields of the revolution. Some of them had seen service at King's Mountain. The early records of Sumner County have fortunately been preserved. They reveal the missing link in many a lineage. The abstracts herein are invaluable inasmuch as Sumner County was the crossroads to western migration for many families, who either tarried for a short time, or whose children moved on into various directions with the trend of migration. These abstracts are, therefore, some of the most valuable genealogical material in Tennessee.".
