Caring for someone with dementia can leave you wondering if you’re doing anything right. You don’t need to have all the answers — you need practical guidance for the moments that are hardest.
Dementia can change everyday life in ways you never expected.
Conversations become difficult. Behaviour can change without warning. Decisions about care, money and the future suddenly feel overwhelming. And while you're trying to support someone you love, it can be easy to forget that you need support too.
Dementia Guide for Caregivers is a practical, compassionate handbook designed to help you understand what is happening, respond with greater confidence, and make day-to-day caregiving feel more manageable.
Inside, you'll discover:
• The essentials of dementia caregiving — understand dementia, its progression and what your loved one may be experiencing
• Better ways to communicate — practical strategies for staying connected when conversations become confusing or frustrating
• How to respond to difficult behaviour — learn techniques for handling aggression, agitation and challenging moments more calmly
• Guidance through the stages of dementia — understand how needs may change and how you can adapt your approach
• Practical help with legal and financial matters — navigate some of the important decisions families and caregivers face
• Ways to protect yourself from caregiver burnout — recognise when you're running on empty and build realistic self-care into everyday life
• Support for difficult emotional days — develop strategies for coping with guilt, loneliness, stress and overwhelm
• Help finding care and support services — understand how to identify and approach providers when you need additional help
• Everyday lifestyle and wellbeing guidance — practical ideas for supporting your loved one's comfort, routine and quality of life
You don't have to become a perfect caregiver. You just need the right tools to make the next difficult moment a little easier.
Whether your loved one has recently been diagnosed or you've been caring for them for some time, this guide gives you a resource you can return to whenever you feel unsure about what to do next.
Make dementia caregiving feel less overwhelming — and start feeling more prepared for the journey ahead.

Store description
Here at NW Book Rescue, we strive to keep used books and media out of landfills and in the hands of caring folks. Our team searches through pre-loved books and media to find you the gems: the old, the beautiful, the historic, the long lost favorites, the new centerpiece, the new-to you favorite read, watch, or listen. In the age of on-demand streaming, we believe in the preservation of physical media; there's nothing quite like the smell of an old book or the sound of a good record. We hope that you'll explore with us, find great treasures, and let us be a part of your used book and media experience. We also sell on Amazon and purchase/appraise books locally! We are located in Hubbard, Oregon and serve the Portland/Salem area. If you have any questions or are looking for something specific, shoot us a message: we are here to help!…
