THEY WILL TAKE YOUR BODY. THEY WILL KEEP YOUR NAME.
A basement club in the Meatpacking District, 1984. A hitchhiker's last ride on a New Mexico highway. A sauna in Helsinki where the heat never really ends. A leather shop that remembers every man who ever wore its stock.
Ten men. Ten nights. Ten doors they should never have walked through.
They came for the same thing — heat, hands, oblivion, the particular freedom of being wanted by a stranger in the dark. What they found instead was The Meridian: an organization that has been watching, recruiting, and consuming queer desire for nearly a century, patient enough to wait decades between visits, thorough enough to never lose a file.
SPLIT OPEN, Volume 1 collects the first ten stories in a saga of body horror, obsession, and appetite that doesn't ask permission — desert glory holes with something ancient behind the wall, Hollywood pool parties where the guests don't all make it to morning, gyms where the supplements work too well, and a bathhouse that closes its doors for the last time without letting go of what happened inside them.
Every story stands alone. Read them in any order. But keep reading, and you'll start to notice the same card in different pockets, the same name surfacing in different decades, the same patient hunger behind every locked door.
The Meridian doesn't create desire. It just makes sure nothing is ever wasted.
Ten stories. One archive. It already has a file on you.
