N.D., (ca 1909), 20pp. Wrps. G+. Depew, (1834-1928), was a United States Senator from New York, and also served as Secretary of State of New York. He was general counsel for many railroad interests, including those of Cornelius Vanderbilt. He campaigned for Lincoln, and knew every president thereafter, during his lifetime, pretty much on a first name basis. He was involved in many social and historical societies, sat on the boards of many corporations, and was a sought after orator. In this speech, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, he reminiscences about the presidents he has known and cites some historical figures who had achieved major accomplishments in their senior years.
