Concina era noto principalmente per il suo inflessibile rigore e per le sue orazioni energiche e spesso violente. Il suo intento era quello di un ritorno alla Chiesa delle origini. Questa opera formata da tre dissertazioni è una critica aperta alle rappresentazioni teatrali a causa della loro presunta influenza corruttrice dei costumi. Al verso dell'occhietto il testo di una lettera circolare di Papa Benedetto XIV datata 1 Gennaio 1748 agli arcivescovi e vescovi in latino ed in volgare nella quale egli attesta la tolleranza anche se di mala voglia per il divertimento carnevalesco. Tra gli argomenti trattati: storia degli spettacoli, la dottrina luterana, il pensiero di Paolo Segneri in merito, Pignatellli, Bellarmino, le donne in scena, la voluttà del teatro, la musica teatrale ecc.
