Item description from seller

Facsimile reprint of the 1897 first edition. An account of political administration in South Africa, from the annexation of the Transvaal to the Jameson Raid. A former editor of an important daily newspaper in Kimberley, the city and diamond mining center where black migrant laborers were subjected to a number of racially discriminatory legal practices during the late 19th century, Statham portrays the Imperial authorities in a particularly unfavorable light. Bound in full brown cloth-covered boards, and issued without a jacket. A fine copy.
