FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8 x 5.25 inches. x + 165 pp. Bound in original brown cloth, gilt, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper. Traces of page edge foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Gift inscription from author on first free endpaper. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A collection of short stories set among the colony of Anglo-American expatriates who lived in Florence in the early decades of the twentieth century. Harold Acton 1904-94) was an author, scholar and self-styled aesthete, who wrote poetry, novels and novellas, short stories and on aspects of Italian history. He was born just outside the walls of Florence to an Anglo-Italian American family and educated at Eton and Oxford. FICTION SHORT STORIES LIT. Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields.
