Dewey has always been a pain in Erin's backside, but seeing as how he's kin she can't get rid of him. And when her 12-year-old self meets Kevin, the shy, disabled new kid at school, things get worse before they get better. Then there's her mom Estelle, lying about Daddy and the divorce, not afraid to smack her daughter across the face when Erin sasses her about it. And Kevin is the one who helps her cope. As time passes, Erin and Kevin grow closer and begin dating. When Dewey spirals out of control and tries to destroy one of the only good things in her life, Erin takes a stand and fights back as best she can. Then tragedy strikes, and she is forced to find her own way. Lurch's Girl is a contemporary YA novel with a sassy, irrepressible heroine who will appeal to readers of all ages.
