A most useful and valuable reference for any collector of Japanese swords guards [Tsuba] and sword furniture. . H. Joly died during the 1920 's and was probably the greatest European authority on Japanese sword mounts of his time. This is one of his most important works, which did not reach the public due to his untimely death. * This text is a vital addition to the library of the student of the Japanese sword and metal worker's art and is published for the first time as written in Joly's own hand, with out alteration of any form. * Loaded with excellent Japanese calligraphy and accurate line drawings of Kakihan.
