Set in the Scottish Wars of Independence, it features such historical figures as William Wallace, Moray and King Edward I (Edward Longshanks or The Hammer of the Scots). Very popular upon its release, it went through several printings and publisher's in both England and America. Napoleon banned the French version from being sold in France. This early 1812 edition was published on the eve of War with England. ***.
