SAS Pink Panther Land Rover takes a pioneering and refreshingly captivating deep-dive approach to understanding the hugely significant impact the Marshall of Cambridge SAS Land Rover had on members of the Special Air Service Regiment. Moreover, it offers a unique perspective on this iconic vehicle and its contribution to the success and future landscape of the SAS.Drawn from the meticulous gathering of once-thought-lost technical data, and despite the fact that much such information has been destroyed or remains classified, every facet of the evolution of the SAS Land Rover Pink Panther is covered and captured with an admirable level of mastery and first-hand knowledge.Containing many previously unseen personal photographs and associated SAS Land Rover memorabilia, the highly detailed annotations to the glorious illustrations provide intriguing insights into the SAS Land Rover - offering a profound and rounded understanding of the vehicle, proving its mettle through the rigours of development, trials and training, coupled with endless deployments, and two dramatic decades of operational use. The book's unique visual and granular approach is further complemented by empirical and authoritative text that unlocks the veil of secrecy and evolutionary hurdles surrounding a vehicle that went on to serve British special forces interests with distinction.Loaded with a wealth of historical information and drawing on a wide variety of documentary sources and unpublished material, and with enlightening contributions, this benchmark of a book captures, illuminates and brings to life the atmosphere and bureaucracy of the military and government of the day.Unrivalled in its breadth and visual impact, this unique chronicle weaves a compelling narrative to inform readers about the ground-breaking vehicle that saw active service around the globe and its crucial role in the historical context of the Special Air Service Regiment. It is also a discovery, providing clarity and insight into the world of the SAS 'Pinkie'.
