From the Author: Laparoscopy and Endoscopy - I tried to make it portable!
SAGES, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and I produced this book to help train the next generation of surgeons in these techniques. Our goal was to make a comcise, portable but comprehensive text that would cover NEW techniques as well as old ones.

When I think back to the training I received in medical school and surgical residency, and compare that to the surgical techniques I use today, it is evident that much has changed. Very few operations are done in the same way. Newer procedures are more precise - the incisions are smaller - and in many ways more technology-intensive. The SAGES Manual is intended to help the trainee or experienced surgeon make the most of these new technologies.

Think of it as a way to take SAGES experts with you - in your OR locker, your briefcase, or white coat pocket.
