A documentary style book exploring the closing down of the Wisconsin Steel and South Works. (USA). Also covers the rise of Chicago's south east side and the fall of blue collar security. The authors took written and verbal contributions from local people, union members, union officers, staff, and reporters to build a detailed and sad story of sudden and enforced change impacting on local communities. A further, and odd but interesting facet of this book, is that the frontispiece and the next pages are written on by a previous owner, who in some way was either connected to the events, or affected by them, because he makes several angry margin notes. Make of them what you will, it certainly adds to the interest in the book!! Softback intact and undamaged. Mild cover wear.
